About me
I am a professor of psychology and neuroscience with a doctorate in Applied Physiology (Neuroscience focus) from Columbia University. Currently, I teach at Palomar College, William Paterson University, and Brooklyn College, where I aim to make science accessible, relevant, and grounded in real-world applications.
My research sits at the intersection of mental health, physiology, and human development. I am especially interested in:
The Human-Animal Bond – Emotional and physiological outcomes of pet companionship, and strategies to strengthen the bond to prevent relinquishment
Physical Activity, Work, and Depression – How movement patterns in occupational and daily life relate to mood, fatigue, and long-term mental health
Resilience and Aging – Protective psychological and biological mechanisms across the lifespan
